Five Best Play Kitchens of 2021

play kitchen 20201

I love our play kitchen, I love our play kitchen because my kids love it and actually use it. It is an open-ended unisex toy, yes boys need play kitchens too! So here are the five best play kitchens of 2020.

A play kitchen is a little bit of an upfront investment, but I really think its worth it in the long run. We’ve had our Ikea play kitchen for the last 5 years and it still gets tons of use + is in great shape!

I personally was in the market for a wooden play kitchen with a minimal + clean look because I wanted it to match our interior design style.

  1. Ikea Play Kitchen
I have the Ikea play kitchen at the top of my list because we have the Ikea play kitchen and love it. I will note though, it might not be accessible for everyone because no everyone has access to an Ikea store. Also, it is hard to put together (Thanks Ikea!)
  2. Kids Kraft Uptown Pastel Play Kitchen
A close friend has this kitchen for her four children and it has held up nicely over the years. I will say, they play rather rough with their play kitchen and it is still standing after 5+ years. So this is a great durable option. However, much like the Ikea kitchen it is a tad tedious to put together. I like the pop of color it adds to their play space as well.
  3. Milton & Goose Essential Wood Play Kitchen
This toy kitchen is beautiful. It is made by Amish artisans in the United States with sustainable birch and maple. The company also exclusively supplies non-toxic products that are free from VOCs + HAPs. It is such a beautiful kitchen that is sure to be an heirloom toys your children’s children can use one day!
  4. Little Chef Florence Classic Play Kitchen
This kitchen is adorable and sure to be a hit with every child. It is the perfect size for one or two little hands and will grow with your child over the years. The colors make it the perfect unisex play kitchen.
  5. Hape Gourmet Kitchen
The Hape Gourmet Kitchen is a classic kitchen that will fit in any smaller space. This kitchen is made with high quality Baltic Birch and will be sure to last over the years.

So there you have it, the top five play kitchens of 2020! Spoiler alert, these kitchens will probably be around for years to come! If you’re look for a gift guide this holiday season be sure to check out my girls gift guide here.

Also, I think at one point I swore my kids would never eat sugar cookies. Alas, we caved. They made and ate sugar cookies and loved every minute.

A few years ago a friend I admire deeply, @homemad A few years ago a friend I admire deeply, @homemadefamilies, said motherhood has its seasons. And, it's so true.

There are seasons in motherhood. There are seasons where we are inspired and seasons we simply are not. There are seasons we are energetic and ones where we are depleted. There are seasons of joy and seasons of sorrow. There are seasons of productivity and seasons of stagnation.
-
I'm currently in the season of getting by and depletion. If you noticed this summer I was inspired. I shared a lot of our lovely activities. And, I shared our daily and weekly lessons. At the moment, were just doing the minimum. We're working through weekly lessons and the rest of the day is spent trying to take a moment of pause from my lovely children.

This is the season I am in as a mother right now and that's okay. We're in the midst of a pandemic. Its okay if you're not mothering with grace. It's okay if you're not the "perfect" mom. It's okay if your holiday gifts are not Instagram worthy. It's okay if your weekly lessons are less than. This years seasons have been challenging, take a moment for yourself. Take time to replenish.

It's filled with sunshine, cooler weather, hiking, parks, cool breezes, monarchs, and future monarchs 🐛🐛🦋🦋

Did you know we are witnessing the collapse of the Western monarch butterfly? This year in California there were less than 2,000 Western monarchs. The Eastern Monarch population is also in decline. Over the past 40 years the Eastern Monarch population has declined by over 80%.
-
I wish I could say merely planting more milkweeds would solve the problem of their decline but with all things, it's going to require a tad more effort from our government. Another small yet beautiful reason we need to advocate for climate change NOW!
